Actor Saif Ali Khan is in the news for ‘Kartavya’. On the occasion of the trailer launch on Thursday, Saif shared an interesting anecdote from the early days of his career. He told how at one time the film director had advised him not to play the role of a policeman, because he did not have that ‘seriousness’ on his face.

Wore police uniform for the first time

Saif Ali Khan said, ‘I still remember the first time I wore a police uniform for the film ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ and we were shooting the climax of the film. At that time, Akshay Kumar was playing the role of a police officer in the film and I was playing an ordinary character. At that time I was trying to learn the intricacies of the film industry.

Saif further told that the director of that film had told him, ‘Never take the role of a policeman seriously in your life, because you cannot do it. You don’t have the strength or courage to look like a policeman. If you do this role, it will look like a comedy, so never try it.

It often happens in films that one day is very difficult, and the next day is a little balanced and easy. Working in these ups and downs has its own pleasure.

When the actor was asked whether it was easier for him to do romantic-comedy or serious characters like duty, Saif answered this question very fearlessly. He admitted that having grown up in cities, it is easier for him to do ‘rom-com’ films.

The actor said, in ‘rom-com’ films you are in a way playing your own character. They contain things that are part of my real life, like raising children, school responsibilities and family. Even in my personal life, I always keep in mind that I am not disappointing my mother.
