Speaking to Pinkvilla, Kshatriya Saran said, “When the film was released, we all had high hopes for it. But I don’t know why this happened. I think it was way ahead of its time. It even received nominations at a few award shows, but they didn’t even invite me.”

She further added that she thought “Awaarapan” would be well-received by audiences and the film would be celebrated. But that didn’t happen, which left her very disappointed.

Shriya said that even years after the film’s release, people still approach her and praise “Awarapan.” She initially thought people loved the film because of its songs, as the music was incredibly popular and Emraan Hashmi’s performance was superb.

But now, Shriya feels that it was the film’s story and its emotions that connected with people. She said that it was a very intense story, and the audience resonated with it. This is why the film continues to receive so much love from audiences even after nearly two decades.
