A big good news has come for the fans of Indian cinema’s most popular horror-fantasy film ‘Tumbbad’. After years of wait, the shooting of the film’s sequel ‘Tumbbad 2’ has officially started. The project was launched with a grand Muhurta ceremony held in Mumbai, which was attended by many eminent personalities from the film industry. To mark the beginning of the production process, a special Muhurat ceremony was organized in Mumbai. Veteran filmmaker Boney Kapoor also attended the Muhurat ceremony of this upcoming horror fantasy film.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in Tumbbad 2
A very powerful name has been added to the cast of the sequel, and it is none other than the wonderful actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will be seen playing an important and multi-layered character. Expressing his happiness about his casting, Nawazuddin expressed how much he liked the story of the original film. This sequel will be jointly produced by Sohum Shah Films and PEN Studios.

Tumbbad was re-released in 2024
Tumbbad, directed by Rahi Anil Barve and produced by Sohum Shah, was first released in 2018. However, at that time the film did not get the recognition it deserved. But, the makers decided to re-release the film in 2024 and they did a great job, especially considering that the film had to compete with films like ‘Devra’ and ‘Stree 2’. Made on a budget of Rs 14 crore, the film earned Rs 52.25 crore worldwide.

For the initial shooting of the film, a huge set of 7-8 acres has been built in Mumbai, which looks like a city. Tumbbad 2 is being directed by Aadesh Prasad and is being led by actor-producer Sohum Shah under his banner ‘Sohum Shah Films’. Veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s ‘PEN Studios’ is also involved in this, who is known for films like ‘RRR’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The film will be distributed by ‘PEN Marudhar’.
