Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has released the much-awaited teaser of its upcoming romantic film ‘Chaand Mera Dil’. The film stars Ananya Panday and Lakshya (Killer fame) in lead roles. After the poster, now the teaser has created both curiosity and debate among the audience about this ‘journey of love’. The teaser starts with the innocence, laughter and closeness of a college romance, but soon the story takes a turn towards anger, sadness and deep emotional conflict. The film’s tagline—”Every first love doesn’t get a second chance”—clearly hints that this love story of Aarav (Lakshya) and Chandni (Ananya) is not going to be a conventional happy ending.
A familiar story of first love and heartbreak
Lakshya is in the role of Aarav and Ananya Pandey is in the role of Chandni. The film revolves around two engineering students going through college life, friendship and a journey of self-discovery. Between lectures and the hustle and bustle of life, they fall deeply in love—a love that, it is hinted, may not get a second chance.

The story puts a lot of emphasis on the idea that first love may be short-lived, but it is very powerful. The tagline, “Pyaar mein thoda madal hona hi hota hai,” further reinforces the aspect of the film that focuses on deep, all-consuming emotions. Another underlying idea, “Not every first love gets a second chance,” adds another layer of seriousness to the story; However, the way the film is presented is reminiscent of old Bollywood romantic films.

The chemistry is good, but the story feels old
No one can deny that an easy and natural chemistry is seen on screen between Lakshya and Ananya Pandey. Their pairing looks fresh, and both the actors have managed to leave a strong impression in the teaser.
Yet, while on one hand the acting of the actors arouses curiosity among the audience, on the other hand the story seems largely predictable. From the innocent beginning to the emotional turmoil, the teaser walks a path that many films have walked before. Even its sentimental tone and down-to-earth desi scenes—including temple scenes and emotional conflicts—are reminiscent of familiar film patterns.
Visual, musical and emotional appeal
Director Vivek Soni has woven the moments of romance and heartbreak with very beautiful scenes. The film’s music, composed by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, adds depth to the film and adds to its emotional impact.
A line like “Life moves faster than love” tries to touch the hearts of the audience, indicating that with the pace of life, love gets left behind. Although these things are heart-touching, they seem to refresh old memories more than newness.
Dharma’s company, but will it be able to stand out?
Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawala, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Marijke D’Souza under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film takes forward the legacy of the famous romantic drama films. The film, which takes its title from an old famous song by Mohammed Rafi, tries to blend old-time love with modern-day vibes.
But, unlike the previous hits of this banner, there is nothing unique or different in the teaser of this film so far.
Release date and final opinion
The release of the film ‘Chand Mera Dil’, which was initially scheduled to release in 2025, has now been pushed to May 22, 2026. The teaser of the film has created a buzz online and is rapidly gaining popularity on social media. But the biggest question still remains: will audiences embrace this familiar love story, or are they looking for something more unique and new?
Currently, ‘Chaand Mera Dil’ has emotions, depth and nostalgia, but there is nothing new in it.
