Supreme Court notice to ott platforms: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Center, Prime Video, Netflix, ALTT (Alt Balaji), owl and social platform on Monday 28 April. This notice has been released to ban the streaming of porn content on OTT and social media platforms.
This move of the Supreme Court has come when a public interest litigation seeking instructions to take action against pornographic content on the OTT platform from the Center. The court said that such content creates concern and the Center should do something about it.

The bench of Justice BR Gawai and Justice AG Christ noted the PIL that expressed “real concern”. The bench again pronounced its order stating that ‘this petition creates concerns about objectionable, vulgar and vulgar content on the OTT platform and social media’. The scholar Solicitor General has impartially stated that ‘also goes to the extent of content deformity’. He said that some more regulations are being considered.
The court has sent notice to the Center, Netflix, Prime, Alt Balaji, Owl Digital, Mubi, X Corp, Google, Meta Inc. and Apple. Let us tell you that earlier the Supreme Court, while hearing the Ranveer Allahabadia case, had asked the Center to consider regulation of pornographic content.
Government will take steps regarding pornographic content
Explain that in this PIL, the Central Government has also demanded the formation of National Content Control Authority (NCCO). The petitioners said that all social media platforms and OTT platforms should set guidelines to prevent vulgarity.
At the same time, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared on behalf of the central government in the court, said that the government is not taking this petition otherwise. Their concern is also about “how children are also affecting. The language of these shows is not only obscene, but also distorted. Even two men cannot see it by sitting among themselves. Only 18 plus warnings come but it does not mean that this content does not have access to children”.
