Actress Chahatt Khanna, who rose to fame with the popular TV show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, is in the news these days for her personal life and religious beliefs. During a recent interview, Chahat spoke openly about her past, religious conversion and the criticism she faced during that time.

Clarification given on decision to embrace Islam

Regarding converting to Islam during her marriage with Farhan Mirza, Chahat made it clear that it was her own decision. She told, ‘I had adopted Islam of my own free will because I wanted to get married. No one put pressure on me. Describing herself as a ‘secular’ person, Chahat said that she celebrates both Eid and Diwali with equal enthusiasm. She also said that she still respects some of the basic principles of Islam.

Return to ‘Sanatan Dharma’

Talking about her spiritual journey after divorce, Chahat said that it took a long time for her to come back to her real identity. She said, ‘When I returned to my roots i.e. Sanatan Dharma, I realized the greater truths of life. I started on that path like a lost child, but now I am very happy that I am back home. The actress admitted that she was under the influence of others at that time, but now she is living a conscious and sensible life.

Facing criticism and negativity

Chahat also expressed grief over the distortion of her image and statements in the media. She told that there was a time when she was very scared about her career and name. People had even told him that due to negative news he would stop getting work. However, with time his confidence increased and he left these things behind.

Chahat Khanna’s personal life

Chahat Khanna’s personal life has been full of ups and downs. Her first marriage was to Bharat Narsinghani in 2006, which ended within a year. After this, in 2013, she married Farhan Mirza, with whom she has two daughters, Johar and Ditya. In 2018, they filed for divorce alleging mental and physical harassment. Currently Chahat is dating Rohan Gandotra.
