Bollywood’s ‘Lord’ Bobby Deol is on cloud nine these days with his success. After making a splash as a villain in ‘Animal’, now Bobby is once again returning in the lead role. The teaser of his upcoming film ‘Bandar’ directed by Anurag Kashyap has been released, in which Bobby Deol is seen in the role of a declining rockstar ‘Sameer Mehra’. The teaser gives a glimpse into the life of Sameer Mehra – a star whose career is on the decline and who gets embroiled in a major scandal, while his sister struggles to save him.

The teaser starts with Bobby Deol making a stylish entry as a rockstar at a party; He is wearing a shiny jacket and shiny sunglasses and has a guitar in his hand. He looks very happy while fans are filming him while he is performing on stage. This is followed by scenes in which he goes on dates with women he meets through a dating app. When one of the women asks him why he is on a dating app, Sameer admits that sometimes he feels like he is a very bad and strange person. He also explains that his only criteria for ‘swiping right’ is photos.
However, their carefree life takes a dramatic turn when Sameer is arrested for alleged sexual harassment. He insists that the woman is lying and trying to trap him. The teaser also introduces Sanya Malhotra as Bobby’s sister, who tries to save him with the help of a lawyer. The teaser ends with a wry smile of Bobby as he sits inside the jail cell. It also claims that this story is inspired by true events.
Fans expressed their excitement after seeing Bobby in a different role. “This looks great,” one fan commented. The film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 5.
In an interview on Sudhir Srinivasan’s YouTube channel, Anurag praised Bobby Deol for agreeing to do the film. He said, “For a guy to completely give himself up to someone who’s been a star for a long time, then who’s seen complete stagnation, and then when he’s getting all kinds of big mainstream films, he chooses ‘Bandar’ and says, ‘I want to do it.’ Because he’s thinking, ‘I’ve never been asked to be weak before.’ He’s so vulnerable in the film, so emotionally open. Whatever scene he has done, he has done it with very wonderful actors. ‘Bandar’ is full of theater artists, great actors from all languages, five National Award winners.”
