Despite repeated contacts, Rashi allegedly did not return the jewellery, the officer said. According to the complaint, Rashi used to visit Raveena’s brother’s family through mutual acquaintances since 2020. After the death of her husband and parents, her relationship with her family became very close and she was allowed to come and go within the house without any restriction.
According to the complaint, only family members and accused Rashi were allowed on the second floor of the residence, where valuables were kept. Complainant Rajeev has alleged that Rashi took the help of one of his associates in this matter. Posing as a police informer, he threatened Rajiv that if he pressed for the return of the jewellery, he would be implicated in a false drug case.
The officer said that Rashi was arrested on May 21 and after being produced in the court, he was sent to police custody till May 29. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
