The ideological war between two veteran Bollywood actresses has now reached a new turn. Yesteryear’s famous actress Mumtaz has raised serious questions on the acting skills and ‘stardom’ of her contemporary Zeenat Aman. In a recent interview, Mumtaz bluntly said that she does not consider Zeenat a good actress.In a conversation, Mumtaz expressed her views on Zeenat Aman saying that she was not a very good actor. Mumtaz questioned the number of awards received by Zeenat Aman and commented,

In a recent conversation with Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz said, “Zeenat Aman was not a very good actress, I’m sorry to say—I would apologize to her too. How many awards did she get? If you call everyone a star, how will it work? Not everyone is a star.”
Mumtaz elaborated on her perspective on the concept of stardom, hinting that it is a rare feat that takes years to achieve. He said that not everyone can reach the stature of actors like Dilip Kumar and emphasized that true stardom is a title that only a select few get. According to him, stardom is rare and takes years to achieve; He cited Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Nargis and Rekha as examples among female stars.

Apart from her comments on Zeenat Aman, Mumtaz also reiterated her views on Sanjeev Kumar, saying that although he was a great actor, she did not consider him a “big star”. He clarified that there is a clear difference between being a star and being an actor, and cited Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor as examples of stars.Mumtaz and Sanjeev Kumar worked together in ‘Khilona’, while she also shared the screen with Zeenat Aman in the iconic film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’.
Earlier, Mumtaz had also criticized Zeenat Aman’s views on live-in relationships, saying that public figures should be careful about the advice they give, especially on topics that go against traditional values.
