When actor Vikrant Massey announced to take a break from films in December 2024, the entire industry and his fans were shocked. Many people linked the decision to take a sudden break after giving a blockbuster film like ’12th Fail’ to industry pressure and nepotism. However, Vikrant has now put an end to all these speculations and shared the real and very emotional reason behind his decision.

Vikrant gave the reason for taking a break from his career

Vikrant, along with his wife Sheetal Thakur, talked about their journey of parenthood on Parineeti Chopra’s show ‘Mom Talks’. He said that his busy schedule around Vardaan’s birth had left him physically and mentally exhausted, due to which he prioritized spending time with his family.
He explained, “You know how much we dedicate ourselves emotionally, physically and mentally. Being a first-time father, my focus was always at home. I didn’t even think about what I was doing or why I was doing it. I just wanted to get my work done and spend as much time as possible with Vardaan and Sheetal Thakur.” Sheetal told that Vikrant was feeling ‘dad guilt’, which shows his deep emotional conflict.
Vikrant recalls a heart-touching moment when his son tried to say ‘Papa’ for the first time while visiting his grandmother’s house. Although Vardaan could only exhale air, that moment made Vikrant realize that now was the time to be fully present at home. Two months later, he announced he was taking a break from work, calling the decision “the biggest gain of my life”.

Vikrant Massey talks about the experience of becoming a father

Talking about his experience of becoming a father, Vikrant said that fathers often play a lesser role than mothers, but they also undergo a lot of emotional changes after the birth of a child. She said, “Like new mothers, new fathers also feel awkward leaving their child behind and going out. There is a perception that it is men who have to run the household – this is what forces us to go out of the house. It is natural to be jealous of the person who is able to stay at home.” He encouraged new fathers to accept their feelings and fulfill their desire to be with their children.
