A.R. Rehman and his wife Saira Banu on Tuesday evening announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. Coincidentally, on the same day, Mohini Dey, who has been performing with Rahman for years, also announced the end of her marriage. After both incidents were reported, Rehman and Saira’s legal representative denied any relationship between them.

Speaking to Republic TV, lawyer Vandana Shah said, “There is no connection. Saira and Mr Rehman have taken this decision on their own.” Rehman and Saira Banu announced their separation on Tuesday evening, citing ‘significant emotional strain in their relationship’.
29-year-old Mohini is a bass player from Kolkata, who is a part of Gaan Bangla’s Wind of Change. She has performed with Rahman in more than 40 shows across the world. She also took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce her separation from her husband, musician Mark Hartsch. “The biggest thing we want to wish is love for everyone in the world. We appreciate every bit of support you’ve given us. Please be positive to us during this time,” they said in a joint post on Instagram. While many people had linked the two announcements to each other as they were very close to each other, Rehman and Saira’s lawyer has now clearly denied this. In her conversation with Republic, Vandana Shah also said that there has been no discussion on financial matters in Rehman and Saira Banu’s separation. he said not yet. It has not reached this stage yet. This will be an amicable divorce. They are both extremely genuine, and this decision was not taken lightly. You wouldn’t call this a sham marriage.

Rehman and Saira Banu married in 1995 and have three children. Rehman wrote on Twitter after midnight on Tuesday, “We had hoped that we would complete 30 years, but it seems that all things have an invisible end.
