Manoj Bajpayee was born on April 23, 1969 in a small village Belwa in Bihar. His passion for acting was there since childhood and with increasing age, Manoj’s passion for acting increased, for which he had to make a lot of papads. After being rejected thrice from National School of Drama (NSD), Manoj did theater with Barry John from Barry Drama School.

‘Satya’
Manoj Bajpayee started his acting career with the TV serial ‘Swabhiman’ aired on Doordarshan. Shekhar Kapur gave him his first opportunity in films. Manoj started his film career in 1994 with Shekhar Kapur’s film ‘Bandit Queen’, but he got recognition from Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Satya’ (1998). In this film he played the role of Bhiku Mhatre. Manoj received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1999 for the film ‘Satya’.

Manoj Bajpayee received the second National Film Award in the year 2004, which was given to him for the film ‘Pinjar’. He was honored with the Special Jury Award for his brilliant performance in this film released in 2003. In this film, he played the character of Rashid, which was highly appreciated by the audience and critics. Because of this role, Manoj’s identity as a serious and powerful actor became even stronger.
‘Bhonsale’
Manoj Bajpayee received the third National Film Award as Best Actor for the film ‘Bhonsle’ in the year 2021. His powerful and deep acting in this film once again proved that he can play any kind of complex character with great ease and effectiveness. This film was released on SonyLIV on June 26, 2020 and Manoj played the role of Ganpat Bhosle in it. His performance was highly appreciated by the critics.

‘Gulmohar’
Manoj Bajpayee was honored with a Special Mention at the National Film Award in the year 2024 for the film ‘Gulmohar’.
This film was released on Jio Hotstar on March 3, 2023 and Sharmila Tagore also played an important role in it. Apart from this, ‘Gulmohar’ also received the title of Best Hindi Film at the National Film Awards.
