Everyone in theaters is excited to watch movies, but often high prices of tickets are loosened by people, but now it will be cheaper to watch movies in single screen theater. Actually, the government has given relief in tax on low -cost cinema tickets.
Cheap movie tickets
There will no longer have to spend much money to buy movie tickets in single screens and small cities. Let us know that after the announcement of recent GST rate cuts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Council has revised many things. The new rates of 5% and 18% will be applicable from September 22, 2025. With this, those watching cheap ticket cinema will get the benefit of this cut.
- Earlier 12% tax was levied on tickets worth up to Rs 100 or less, but according to the new GST rates, they will now be charged GST with 5% ITC.
- At the same time, tickets worth more than Rs 100 will continue to be charged with 18% ITC without any change.
Cinema will be cheaper in single-screen theaters
7% tax deduction on low-cost tickets is expected to be cheaper to watch cinema in single-screen theaters across the country. At the same time, industry experts believe that more people will be encouraged to return to the big screen, which will increase the revenue in all value chains, from manufacturers and distributors to exhibits. Its most impact is likely to be felt in the markets of rural and small cities, where affordability has always been a barrier.
This request was done by Multiplex Association of India
Before the meeting, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) had requested the government to bring cinema tickets up to Rs 300 below 5% slab. His argument was that the move would make films cheaper and exhibits would be encouraged to extend screen infrastructure in small towns and towns. However, the GST Council did not consider their request, causing multiplexes to remain out of the scope of tax relief on a large scale.
