A big update has come out regarding Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and South Cinema superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s film Jana Nayakan. Due to not getting the green signal from the Censor Board, the film which was scheduled to release in January, can now hit the theaters at the end of this month i.e. July. The makers are busy completing the certification process as soon as possible.

What are the makers’ plans regarding the release of the film?

Jan Nayakan is expected to get approval from the Censor Board this week. After the Tamil version, the censoring process will be completed in Telugu and Hindi also. If reports are to be believed, the makers are planning to release the film on July 16, July 23 or July 31.
However, Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut film Sigma can also be released on July 31, so there is suspense on this date. If things don’t work out, then due to the vacant slot the film can be released on August 7 also.

Why was Jan Nayakan stuck?

The film was scheduled to be released on January 9 this year, but a member of the censor board objected to some scenes, after which the matter got stuck. The Censor Board asked to send the film to the revising committee. In protest against this, the production house went to Madras High Court, which started a legal battle between the makers and CBFC. Later the makers withdrew the case from the court. Amidst this long tussle and delay, the film was leaked online on April 9.
