During the show, when contestant Neelam asked Rajiv Khandelwal about his marriage story, he told that before marriage, he and Manjiri used to meet secretly. He said, ‘At that time both of us wanted to keep our relationship very private. Even in our wedding we did not invite many people. For me, the truth of the relationship was more important than the appearance.
When Manjiri’s father came to know, he called him to meet.
During this time, he mentioned an interesting incident, when Manjiri’s father came to know about their relationship. Rajeev said, ‘As soon as my father-in-law came to know that we both were dating each other, he immediately called me to meet. But I myself reached there before the call came. Manjiri’s father directly asked me what were the future plans. I replied that right now we both are just understanding each other and dating.
engagement date fixed early
He further said, ‘My father-in-law asked when will you get married. So I replied that I will do it soon. Then immediately the date of engagement was asked. I had in mind that we would give the date after a few months so that the relationship could get some more time, because at that time we had been living together for only one and a half years. But the pressure from the family to fix the date increased and finally our engagement was fixed on 16th May.
As soon as the ring was worn, talk about the wedding date started.
Rajeev narrated another interesting story from his engagement. He said, ‘When I was making Manjiri wear the ring, the people sitting there started asking me to announce the wedding date also. Everything was going wrong there. My father-in-law was sitting there and was continuously asking for the date. I told the date after one year, but my father-in-law said to fix the date before that. Then I asked about ten months later, but again the answer I got was to reduce it further. Ultimately a compromise had to be made and the wedding date had to be fixed.
Rajeev wanted to marry simply.
During the conversation, Rajiv said, ‘I have always liked simplicity. I was one of those people who wanted the marriage to be completed quickly and without much expense. My wish was that the marriage should be over in just one hour and not much money should be spent on it. But as the preparations started, the affair started turning into a big family event.

Interesting discussions continued with the guests
He said, ‘During wedding planning, there used to be a lot of fun bickering between our families over guests and preparations. Some relatives would say to call more people, while others would say that more rooms would have to be booked. Gradually the planning of 100 rooms increased to 150 rooms. From the girl’s side it was said that some more guests were coming, while from the boy’s side an attempt was made to reduce the number. These small things later became the sweetest memories.
