Famous Hollywood actress and Oscar nominated star Kristen Stewart has created a stir all over the world with her recent statement. Speaking to The Times of London, the Oscar-nominated star admitted she no longer feels comfortable or creatively safe in her home country. When asked if she saw herself living in America, Stewart replied simply: “Probably not.” She added, “I can’t work freely there,” hinting that her frustration extended beyond politics to her professional life.
Why does Kristen Stewart want to leave America?
For Stewart, the issue is not just about ideological disagreement – it is about everyday reality. She explained that the Trump era has created an environment that feels restrictive and frustrating, especially for artists. “Reality is completely breaking down under Trump,” he said, suggesting that the environment has become increasingly hostile to creative freedom.

The Spencer actress made it clear that her concerns are more than just uneasiness, pointing out that the cultural shift is directly impacting her ability to make films on her own terms.
Where could she go instead?
Europe appears to be firmly on Stewart’s radar. She talked about her desire to settle in places where filmmaking feels more open and collaborative, saying that she wanted to “create the reality that we want to live in”. The actress has long been attracted to independent cinema and international projects, so a move to Europe would be a natural next step.
He said his plan would be to make films overseas and then bring them back to American audiences — even if it means a little rebellion. Stewart further stated that she “wants to shove it down the throats of the American people”, underscoring her determination to make her voice heard.
Is Stewart the only one who feels this way?
no way. Stewart’s comments reflect a broader sentiment in Hollywood, with many well-known celebrities deciding to relocate. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have settled in the UK, Rosie O’Donnell has moved abroad, and James Cameron now lives in New Zealand, citing the move as necessary “for peace of mind”.
Stewart’s discomfort with Trump is also personal. The former president famously commented in 2012 on her relationship with Robert Pattinson, whom she later described as strangely obsessive.
Although he hasn’t set a firm timeline for leaving the United States, Stewart’s words reflect a growing trend: For many creatives, the Trump era isn’t just political — it’s a breaking point.
