He expressed his emotions in colours. And who better than my oldest partner in fashion and mischief, Manish Malhotra, to help me make this vision a reality? You make me feel like a canvas for your art, thank you!”
Manish Malhotra’s Met Gala 2026 outfit
Manish Malhotra posts pictures from the Met Gala red carpet and talks about his outfit. He wrote, “For my Met Gala appearance, I wanted to create something that was very special to me—a glimpse of the city of Mumbai. It’s the same city that has shaped my travels, my cinema, and my approach to design. And also a glimpse into the workshop that turns my visions into reality every day—my work family. There’s nothing quite like a classic Indian bandhgala—here worn with an architectural cape.” It has been created by more than 50 artisans from Mumbai and Delhi together, it is not just a cloth – it is a story of craftsmanship, memories and mutual cooperation.”
“Dori, zardosi, chikankari and Kasbi embroidery come together to weave a story. The names and signatures of the artisans are also woven into the piece – a tribute to every hand and every moment that shaped it. The intricate hand embroidery is reminiscent of Mumbai’s cinematic landmarks, while the three-dimensional sculptural elements pay homage to the artisans in their studios who created the piece. The look is both a celebration and a reminder – that we Where have they come from, and how Indian craftsmanship is making its place on the global stage,” he concluded.
