Birth and family
KS Chitra was born on 27 July 1963 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His full name is Kodur Subramaniam Chitra. Chitra’s entire family was associated with music. Due to which he was interested in music since childhood. Her father’s name was Krishnan Nair, it was he who gave initial training in music to Chitra. Chitra strengthened her hold in classical music and made music a major part of her life.

KS Chitra started her career in the year 1979. He recorded the song for the first time for the Malayalam film ‘Atthasam’. This film was released in the year 1983. But even before this, Chitra’s voice started leaving its mark in many languages.
After Malayalam films, he started singing in Tamil films. K S Chitra started singing songs in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Punjabi and many other languages. In the year 1986, he received his first National Film Award for the song of the film ‘Sindhu Bhairavi’. She has sung more than 25,000 songs in about 36 languages.
