Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will lead a yoga program with 3,000 people under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’ on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday. The Sports Ministry will celebrate International Yoga Day by organizing yoga programs simultaneously in all the Regional Centers of Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Centers of Excellence, SAI Training Centers and Khelo India Institutes across the country.
More than 15,000 people from across the country are expected to participate in it. Bollywood actor and fitness icon Akshay Kumar will join Mandaviya at a yoga event in Delhi. The National Sports Federation, state sports departments and sports universities will also organize programs together to promote yoga. “Ever since the United Nations adopted June 21 as International Yoga Day following a proposal by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this annual event has evolved into a worldwide celebration of physical, mental and spiritual well-being,” Mandaviya said in a statement. ”
He said, “This day brings together millions of yoga practitioners from different continents. Yoga has become a global event transcending geographical boundaries. Around 3,000 people are expected to attend the ‘Fit India’ program to be held in the capital. Famous yoga instructor Anshuka Parwani will also conduct a special yoga session in this program.
