The tremendous success and ‘cult classic’ status of the film ‘Laila Majnu’, which was re-released last year, has inspired the makers to bring another immortal love story on screen. Filmmakers Imtiaz Ali, Sajid Ali and producer Ekta Kapoor have now started work on ‘Heer Ranjha’. The official announcement of this film was made on the special occasion of Valentine’s Day.
‘Heer Ranjha’ will be the next chapter of ‘Laila Majnu’ franchise.
According to the official statement of the makers, ‘Heer Ranjha’, to be directed by Sajid Ali, will actually be the second chapter of the ‘Laila Majnu’ franchise. This film will carry forward the same deep emotional connect that created a place for ‘Laila Majnu’ in the hearts of the audience. Although it is a classic romance, it will be presented in a modern tone as per today’s times.
The film’s producer Ekta Kapoor said, ‘Imtiaz and Sajid have the rare ability to show love honestly and deeply. ‘Heer Ranjha’ is a love story that aims to transcend the boundaries of time and emotions. We hope that this film will touch the hearts of the Indian audience as well as people abroad.

Talking about this project, Imtiaz Ali said that ‘Heer Ranjha’ has its own world and rhythm. The makers also shared a short clip on Valentine’s Day with the caption, ‘Some love stories never die… From Laila Majnu to Heer Ranjha – the legacy of love continues.’
