Musician Lucky Ali supported singer Arijit Singh, who retired from playback singing after reaching the peak of his career, and said that something or the other had happened to him due to which he had to take this decision. Ali, who himself has chosen a different path from Bollywood, said that he fully supports Singh’s decision to do something outside the restrictions of the music industry.

Ali (67) said in a digital interview to ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “You have to put yourself in the musician’s place and understand what he is really feeling. If he has taken a step in this direction, then something must have broken inside him. I completely agree with Arijit’s decision.” He added, “He will definitely sing and express himself, but he won’t do it in the same circumstances as before. You have to make your own path, like we did; we made our own path.”

Singh (38) surprised his fans last month by announcing his retirement through a post on Instagram. He wrote in a post on January 27, “Hello, Happy New Year to all of you. I want to thank you all for loving me as listeners for so many years. I am happy to announce that I am now retiring from playback singing. I am saying goodbye to it. It has been a wonderful journey.”

Ali, famous for hit songs like “O Sanam”, “Ek Pal Ka Jeena” and “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum”, has released his new album based on romance “Tu Jaane Hai Kahaan”. The song is written by Kausar Munir and released under the Tips Music banner. He said, now we are not dependent on any film or music company or anyone else, we are our own company.

So, basically it’s a huge freedom to express yourself and work with like-minded people.” After Singh’s retirement, there is a lot of speculation as to what forced him to take this decision. Talking about his own journey, Ali said that every new artist has to face challenges.

He said, “Nothing is handed to you on a plate; you have to present your best and believe in yourself in the work you have done. Once you do that and overcome that hurdle, things become a little easier. But that does not at all mean that the path is easy. It becomes easier to just move forward and then work harder in that context.” He said, “Life is not meant to be easy. An easy life is not always good. There should be drama, there should be struggles, there should be a lot of things and all these are reflected in your work as well. In my case, perhaps that is why it has been reflected in a lot of the work I have done.
