Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s film ‘Dhurandhar’, which created history by earning more than Rs 1200 crore at the box office, has now entered the digital world. The uproar has started with its premiere on Netflix at 12 midnight on 30th January. Fans allege that Netflix has ‘scissored’ important parts of the film and muted the dialogues. The total duration of ‘Dhurandhar’, which was a hit in the theatres, was 3 hours 34 minutes. But the version released on Netflix is only 3 hours 25 minutes long. This means that approximately 10 minutes of scenes are missing from the film. Fans have noticed that many powerful and abusive dialogues in the film have been muted. Many important scenes have been edited and shortened, affecting the flow of the story.

reaction on social media
People immediately noticed these changes and even used their X profiles to share their reactions. One user wrote, ‘Oops, Netflix India spoiled the mood. We want an uncensored version. According to box office tracker Sacanilc, the film has earned Rs 835.83 crore in India in 56 days. Worldwide this figure has reached Rs 1,344.74 crore. Meanwhile, the film’s total earnings in India have crossed Rs 1000 crore, while the film’s budget was Rs 250 crore.
Why was the cut version released?
Usually OTT platforms release ‘uncut’ or ‘director’s cut’ versions of films, but in the case of ‘Dhurandhar’, Netflix has taken the opposite step. Experts believe that this might have been done due to Censor Board rules or preparations for future satellite (TV) release, but fans are not at all happy with this.
