President Draupadi Murmu honored the remaining Padma awardees for the year 2026 during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23. Many dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were present in this grand ceremony. During this period, many big personalities who contributed to the country’s art, cinema and various other fields were awarded the country’s highest civilian honours.
Mammootty and Alka Yagnik received Padma Bhushan
Malayalam cinema megastar Mammootty was among the first winners of this ceremony, who was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the President. On this special occasion, Mammootty was also present along with his wife Sulfat, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan and daughter Surumi. At the same time, the country’s veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik, who was suffering from hearing loss for a long time, was also honored with Padma Bhushan. When Alka was moving towards the stage, she touched the feet of PM Narendra Modi sitting in the front row and took his blessings, after which she reached the stage.

R Madhavan and Satish Shah get Padma Shri, PM Modi pats them on the back
Along with Telugu actors Murali Mohan and Rajendra Kumar, the names of versatile actor R Madhavan were also included among the recipients of Padma Shri award. Madhavan also touched PM Modi’s feet before receiving the award, after which the PM smiled and talked to him and patted him lovingly on the back. Late actor Satish Shah, who left the world in October last year, was posthumously awarded the Padma Shri, which was received by his cousin Arvind Mamania.

Dharmendra received Padma Vibhushan posthumously in the first phase.
Earlier, in the first ceremony held on May 26, the President had handed over Padma Awards to a total of 66 winners. During that time, Bollywood’s he-man Dharmendra, who left the world in November 2025, was posthumously given the country’s second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, which was accepted by his wife Hema Malini. Apart from this, Padma Bhushan, awarded posthumously to the king of the advertising world, Piyush Pandey, was accepted by his wife Neeta Pandey, while Bengali cinema superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee has also been awarded Padma Shri in the first phase.
