Hollywood veteran filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited film ‘The Odyssey’ had its world premiere in London on Monday. The star cast and crew of the film participated in this red carpet event along with selected film critics from America and UK. As soon as the screening is over, the first reactions to the film have come out, and praises are being showered everywhere on the film on social media. Many critics have called it the best film of Nolan’s career so far, i.e. a ‘masterpiece’.
Critics were impressed: ‘No one but Nolan could have done this’
Critics are praising Nolan’s grand vision of bringing Homer’s timeless epic tale to the screen. Experts shared their thoughts on social media platform X shortly after the premiere:Steve Weintraub of Collider wrote, “‘The Odyssey’ is incredible. This movie completely blew me away. From the stellar performances to Nolan’s supernatural style, everything about this movie is amazing.”
Senior film critic Perry Nemiroff praised the film’s grandeur, writing, “This sprawling and thrilling version of Homer’s epic tale is certainly Nolan’s own trademark style. It’s hard to believe that any other filmmaker could have brought this story to the big screen with such scale, scope, and heart.”
Film journalist Rachel Leishman said, “The film is as epic as its original story. It’s a story of love and loss that takes you on a wonderful journey, as only Christopher Nolan can.”
Matt Damon and Robert Pattinson’s acting won hearts
Christopher Nolan has always been known to bring out the best work from his actors, and the same has been seen in ‘The Odyssey’. The work of Matt Damon, who is playing the main character of ‘Odysseus’ in the film, is being described as the most powerful performance of his career.
Jazz Tangke of ‘Variety’ praised the star cast, writing that the performances of Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, John Leguizamo, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o are truly extraordinary. Film critic Simon Thompson specifically mentioned that Robert Pattinson has done an excellent job in the negative-shaded role of ‘Antinous’, while John Leguizamo’s performance in the role of ‘Eumaeus’ is excellent.
