How far behind ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Dangal’ is ‘Dhurandhar 2’?

Why couldn’t ‘Dhurandhar 2’ beat ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Dangal’?
Along with this, if we now talk about why it could not surpass ‘Dhurandhar 2’, ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Dangal’, then many reasons are believed to be behind it. According to Sacknilk, there are many factors in this including China and Gulf.
China and Gulf Effect
The biggest impact on the earnings of the film ‘Dangal’ was seen at China’s box office. According to Sacknilk, this film did a business of Rs 1305 crore at the box office in China alone. Whereas it is not like this with ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Not only this, Gulf Effect was also seen. It was banned in Gulf countries. Because it was declared anti-Pakistan by Pakistan. From where it could do business worth around Rs 100 crores. But still this film did a business of 230 crores in the overseas market.
No special response in regional languages
Along with this, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ did not get much response even in regional languages. According to the report of Sacanilc, the Hindi net collection of the film was Rs 1053.71 crore, Kannada was Rs 3.66 crore, Malayalam was Rs 1.77 crore, Tamil was Rs 19.39 crore and Telugu was Rs 42.56 crore. Whereas South’s films like ‘Pushpa 2’, ‘Bahubali 2’ and ‘RRR’ did good business in Hindi at the box office. At the same time, according to Sacknilk, the gross collection of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ in South was only Rs. 80 crores.
| Language | earnings |
| Hindi | 1053.71 crore |
| Kannada | 3.66 crores |
| Malayalam | 1.77 crore |
| Tamil | 19.39 crores |
| Telugu | 42.56 crores |
‘A’ certification also became a hurdle
The earnings of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ also became a hurdle in ‘A’ certification. A certification means that it can be seen only by 18+ viewers. Because of this the family members could not watch this film. Because of this, a large group of young audiences and family audiences stayed away from theatres. In such a situation, where 4-5 tickets were to be booked, only one ticket was booked due to A certification, which affected the earnings of the film. This has also been considered a barrier in the film’s earnings.

movie run time
The strength of the story is important for a film to be a hit or flop and its run time also matters. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is a film of about 4 hours. The run time of the film is 3 hours 49 minutes, in which tremendous action and bloodshed is shown. Even today, there are many viewers in the society who are unable to watch violence and it is also difficult for people to sit in theaters for about 4 hours. Even before this, films like ‘LOC Kargil’ were released, in which only 4 hours of bloodshed continued. This film proved to be a flop.
‘Dhurandhar’ became a hit franchise
According to Sacknilk, even though ‘Dhurandhar’ could not break the records of ‘Dangal’ and ‘Baahubali 2’. But it has become a hit franchise of Indian cinema. ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise has become the highest grossing. Both its parts have done business of more than Rs 3000 crore.
