New York prosecutors said Thursday they will drop a rape charge against Harvey Weinstein. Prosecutors will not prosecute the former film producer for a fourth time in this ‘Me-Too’ era case. Weinstein, 74, has been convicted of sex crimes in New York and other cases in California and remains in prison.
The charge in a rape case in New York remains unresolved, so the charge will be withdrawn. It is alleged that Weinstein had raped a ‘hairstylist’ and actress in a Manhattan hotel in 2013. Jessica has testified that she had a consensual relationship with Weinstein, even though the film producer was married at the time.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker has been denying all the allegations against him. Weinstein was one of the biggest names in the film industry, producing such blockbusters as “Shakespeare in Love,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Chocolat.”
