Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has officially joined the film ‘Tumbbad 2’ directed by Sohum Shah. This film is his next film after ‘Alpha’ which did not perform as per expectations at the box-office. Although many developments have happened since then, the latest news is the confirmation of Alia Bhatt joining the project. However, while Alia Bhatt’s name has been confirmed for ‘Tumbbad 2’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was already confirmed to star in the film. ‘Tumbbad 2’ is touted to be the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 cult hit film, which was directed by Sohum Shah himself.
Speaking to Bombay Times, he expressed his excitement and said, “‘Tumbbad’ has been stuck in my mind ever since I saw it for the first time. Very few films create a world that feels so original and so completely immersive to the audience, and even fewer films that continue to grow in people’s imaginations even years after their release. That’s what makes this opportunity so exciting.” ‘Tumbbad 2’, the much-awaited sequel, will also star Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Earlier it was reported that Alia had started shooting for the film on May 3 before leaving for America for the Met Gala on May 4.
This sequel from director Aadesh Prasad will take the horror story created in the previous film forward and explore the dark and cursed mythology associated with the deity Hastar. The upcoming film promises a more powerful and hair-raising tale that will show the dangerous effects of awakening forces that should never have been worshipped. ‘Tumbbad 2’ is scheduled to release on December 3, 2027.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt was recently seen in YRF’s female-led action film ‘Alpha’. She played the character of Sita, a highly skilled assassin who was designed to kill. Bobby Deol, Sharvari and Anil Kapoor also play important roles in the film. Hrithik Roshan also makes a surprise cameo as Major Kabir in the spy thriller ‘Alpha’. Alia Bhatt also has ‘Love and War’ with Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in the pipeline.
