After a Muslim religious guru raised objections to interfaith marriage (marriage between different religions), Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has broken his silence on the criticism surrounding his recent marriage with Gauri Spratt. The actor has said in clear words that his family has always been very inclusive and no woman in his life has changed her religion after marriage.

Our family is very inclusive, mutual respect is the basis
In a recent interview, Aamir Khan completely rejected the allegations against him and talked about his family environment. He said, “The truth is that our family is very inclusive. Both my sisters are married to Hindus; my daughter is also married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian woman.” Aamir clarified that marriages of different religions are a common thing in his family, which has always been based on mutual respect and not on religious conversion.
Marriages done under Special Marriage Act
Putting an end to the news of his wives’ religious conversion, Aamir Khan said, “Gauri, Kiran or Reena, no one changed their religion because our marriages were civil marriages (legal marriage under the Special Marriage Act). Gauri is not even a Hindu, she is a Christian, and that too a Christian who does not follow religion very much. As time passes, life is getting more fun.”

Royal Chief Mufti had expressed objection
This statement of Aamir Khan comes after the public objection of the royal Chief Mufti of Muslim personal Darul Ifta, Maulana Ibrahim Hussain. According to media reports, the religious guru, citing Islamic law, had said that it is not permissible for a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman. He also commented on the actor’s personal life and his relationships, mentioning his many marriages.
The marriage took place in a private ceremony on 5th July.
This whole controversy started when Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt got married in a private ceremony on July 5. On this special occasion, Aamir’s children Junaid Khan, Ira Khan and Azad Rao Khan as well as Gauri’s son were also present. Bengaluru-based Gauri Spratt is an entrepreneur in the beauty and wellness industry. Aamir’s first marriage was with Reena Dutta (divorce in 2002) and second marriage was with filmmaker Kiran Rao (announcement of separation in 2021).
