New Delhi. ‘You are the ugliest woman’, these words of her husband Darshan Jariwala have not been forgotten by actress Apara Mehta even today. Recently in an interview, she told that on the day of her wedding anniversary, Darshan had told her that he no longer loved her and wanted to separate. At that time, Apra had returned from America and went straight to shooting and later she realized that her marriage was on the verge of breaking. Apara revealed that after some time Darshan left the house, but both of them never got divorced. Despite living apart for 21 years, there is no bitterness in their relationship. In an interview, she talked about her relationship with actor Darshan Jariwala, their separation and the conversation that changed the course of their marriage.

In an interview given to ‘Hotterfly’, Apra has given the painful reason for living separately with her husband and famous actor Darshan Jariwala for two decades. Apara Mehta remembered that morning which shook the foundation of her married life forever.

That call came on the anniversary

Apra told that this incident happened when she was on a tour of America in connection with the shows of her plays. The same day was their wedding anniversary and they had called Darshan from America. Apara recalled, ‘It was our wedding anniversary and I called Darshan from America. He told me, ‘We have a very important talk.’ I didn’t understand what they wanted to talk about.

‘I don’t love you anymore, you are the ugliest woman’

Immediately after returning to India, Darshan asked her to end the marriage. Apara told that she got off the flight at 3 in the morning, reached home at 5 o’clock and had to go for the shooting of her serial at 7 o’clock. According to Apara, Darshan Jariwala told her that morning – ‘Look Apara, now we should separate because I am no longer in love with you. I don’t like you anymore and you are the ugliest woman I have met in my life. Apara told that Darshan was sitting on the swing with a cup of tea in his hand. Even after hearing this bitter thing, he had to go to the set to shoot his three big scenes. When the fatigue subsided during the day, he realized what Darshan had said.

‘Left home, but the doors are still open’

Apara Mehta told that after some time of that conversation, Darshan Jariwala left the house. However, both of them never got legally divorced. Apara said- One day he left home. It is still our home. The doors are always open for them, they can come back whenever they want. However, I know that they may never come back. I am sure he will never find anyone like me and I will never find anyone like him. Today, despite living apart, we have a cordial relationship and we understand each other easily.

Married in 1982, living separately since 2003

Apara Mehta and Darshan Jariwala got married in the year 1982. Both of them also have a daughter Khushhali. Since 2003, both of them are living separately from each other without legal divorce, but maintain respect for each other on public platforms.
