The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed actress Jacqueline Fernandez to withdraw her plea challenging a Delhi court’s order framing charges against her in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case. Justice B.V. A bench of Justices Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi said, “Counsel for the petitioner (actress) has sought permission to withdraw this special leave petition with liberty to adopt appropriate remedies as per law.” The Supreme Court allowed the withdrawal of the petition as requested by the petitioner.

Supreme Court gave permission to withdraw the petition

Justice B.V. is hearing the case. A bench of Justice Nagarathna and Justice Joymalya Bagchi accepted the petitioner’s request.“Counsel for the petitioner (actress Jacqueline Fernandez) has sought permission to withdraw this Special Leave Petition (SLP) with liberty to pursue appropriate legal remedies as per law.” — Supreme Court Bench

Accepting this request of Jacqueline’s lawyer, the top court gave her the freedom to approach the appropriate legal forum as per rules and allowed her to withdraw the petition.

What is the whole matter?

Delhi Court’s decision: On May 30 this year, a special court in Delhi had ordered to formally frame charges against Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar and 15 other accused in a money laundering case of Rs 200 crore.

Stand of the top court: Jacqueline Fernandez had approached the Supreme Court challenging this order of the Delhi court. However, he has now withdrawn this petition with the freedom to choose other options under due legal process.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating this much talked about case related to Sukesh Chandrashekhar, in which Jacqueline has also been facing serious allegations. After withdrawing the petition from the Supreme Court, now the actress can approach any other lower or higher court in this matter as per law.
