Along with Varun Dhawan, actors like Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt were also in important roles in Kalank. This romantic drama film released in 2019 was based on a love story before India’s independence.

150 crore budget, earning not even 100 crore
The condition of Kalank was very bad at the Indian box office. The makers had spent a huge amount on this film directed by Abhishek Burman. Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Apoorva Mehta were its producers. According to the report of SACNILC, the cost of making Kalank was Rs 150 crore, while its net earning in India was less than Rs 100 crore, which was Rs 84.60 crore. Kalank’s failure at the box office was a big shock not only for its actors but also for the makers.
Varun is seen in ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’
If we look at Varun Dhawan’s work front, these days he is seen in the film ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’. It has been directed by his father and veteran director David Dhawan. This film, which hit the theaters on June 5, has collected Rs 7.5 crore on the first day and Rs 7.25 crore on the second day, according to Sacknilk. Whereas the budget of the film is Rs 50 crores. Along with Varun, it also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in lead roles.
