It may have been many years since ‘Game of Thrones’, one of the biggest and grandest shows in the history of Hollywood, ended, but the stories and controversies related to it still remain in the headlines. For years, it has been claimed in internet and media reports that the lead actors of this show received a huge fee of $300,000 (approximately Rs 2.5 crore) for each episode. Now, famous actress Emilia Clarke, who played the timeless character of ‘Mother of Dragons’ i.e. Daenerys Targaryen in the show, has broken her silence on these claims and termed it as a complete rumour.

In a recent interview with ‘Variety’, Clarke said that the often reported salary reports were far from the truth; He straight up shot down one of the most popular claims surrounding HBO’s blockbuster fantasy drama.
Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen for all eight seasons of the show, has not disclosed her actual earnings. However, she said that the series gave her enough financial stability that she was able to repay her parents’ house loan. She also reiterated that she was paid the same salary as her male co-stars.

Elsewhere in the interview, Clarke talked about her experience playing Daenerys, one of the series’ most influential and most talked-about characters.
he said “I was given seasons, and I felt, understood, and monitored every decision to the best of my ability, so that it felt like my decision. I felt that was my job.
George R.R. Based on Martin’s novels, ‘Game of Thrones’ premiered in 2011 and the show ended in 2019 after eight seasons. Its cast included Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Clarke previously addressed the issue of pay equality on the show during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. At the time, she said, “This was my first job, and I didn’t face discrimination in terms of my salary because I was a woman.”
That same year, court documents related to a legal dispute between Coster-Waldau and his former manager revealed that the actor had earned $1.07 million per episode for at least six episodes of the final season. Since ‘Game of Thrones’, Clarke has starred in a diverse slate of films across different genres. She played Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator Genesis’, played the lead role as Qi’ra in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, and appeared in films like ‘Last Christmas’, ‘Above Suspicion’, ‘The Pod Generation’ as well as the Marvel series ‘Secret Invasion’.
