Haryanvi folk singer Masoom Sharma is in controversy these days over the use of abusive words in a college program in Dehradun. The singer has presented his clarification after the Haryana State Women Commission sent summons in this matter. Talking to the media on Friday, Masoom Sharma said that he and his family were being harassed by some people for a long time, due to which he was under immense mental stress.

Mental stress and threats were cited as the reason

Clarifying the situation, Masoom Sharma said, ‘Some people are continuously harassing me and my family. My uncle’s son called and threatened to kill me. When the mind is confused, irritability increases. Due to this tension and anger, some words came out of my mouth. The singer further said that he has apologized for whatever he felt was wrong and has also replied to the notice of the Women’s Commission.

There was uproar in the cultural program

This entire controversy started during the Students’ Union Week at DAV Post Graduate College, Dehradun. Singer Masoom Sharma was performing in the program along with his co-artist Ajay Hooda. It is alleged that he used objectionable language and abuses on the stage, due to which there was a lot of anger among the students and teachers present there. Videos of this incident are becoming increasingly viral on social media, after which the police has also started investigation.

Chief Minister was also present in the program

Surprisingly, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also participated in this program, although he had left there at the time of the incident. Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar, who was present at the programme, also tried to stop and intervene with the singer on the stage, but it had no significant effect.
