In a recent podcast conversation with ANI, Ranaut revealed that she was branded a ‘witch’ and accused of doing bad things like ‘black magic’. He said, “Apart from my ex, who had filed a case against me, some people stood up and started saying that she is a witch, she drinks blood, she does black magic.” She described it as a ‘witch-hunt’, which happened when she was only 26 or 27 years old.

Thinking about the expectations placed on her at that time, Ranaut questioned why she should try to look good to others when she was being treated like this? He said, “I have no reason to make her look good,” and insisted that she was doing her best work even in difficult circumstances.
This controversy related to his personal life came into limelight when his old partner Adhyayan Suman made some claims in an interview given to DNA in 2016. He alleged that Ranaut once called him for puja at midnight in a room completely covered with black clothes, which left him very scared. Suman also claimed that she was later asked to perform some rituals in a graveyard, but she refused to do so.
In 2017, Aditya Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab filed a criminal case of defamation against Ranaut and her sister Rangoli in the Andheri court. This case was filed regarding the statements given by Ranaut about her past relationship with Pancholi.
