‘Sasural Simar Ka’ fame Deepika Kakkar is currently fighting a battle with cancer. The actress came to know about her stage 2 liver cancer only a few months ago. The tumor she had was of tennis ball size, in which cancer cells were later found. Deepika also had surgery due to this.
Deepika talked about the journey of liver cancer in the podcast of Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa. She said that she had pain during pregnancy, which she was ignoring. However, after delivery it was found that the matter was very serious and she had cancer. The actress told that she cannot get any test done without her husband Shoaib.
Waiting for the test is scary
Deepika Kakkar told that her FAP test is to be done in the first week of November. Through this test, it is known whether there is cancer in your body or not, and if so, where has it spread. Shoaib Ibrahim had mentioned about this test in his latest vlog. The actor had said that waiting for the test report is very scary for him.
22 percent was cut out
Talking about this, Deepika said, ‘Alhamdulillah, my cancer was only in my tumor. Last time when we did FAP, there were no cancer cells anywhere else in the body. 22 percent of the liver was cut out, which means it was a big piece of 11 centimeters. With that the tumor was gone, the cancer was gone. We have also been doing tumor marker tests, those tests are also coming back positive. But one thing is that right now I am on oral targeted therapy, which is like chemotherapy. I am taking that. It will last for two years. In these two years, keep a close eye to see if any type of cancer is coming back. Therefore, we will have to scan them from time to time.
Didn’t take drugs, still got cancer
Harsh asked Deepika that she neither takes any kind of drug nor did she ever drink alcohol. Then how did she get a big disease like cancer? The actress said on this, ‘To be honest, my surgeon at Kokilaben Hospital is very good. He and my family doctor and other people I know also say that if you ask us how this happened to you, we have no answer for it. All the doctors told me this.
Bharti Singh asked if there was no reason for this. Deepika said, ‘There must be some reason. There must have been some poisonous substance due to which this happened. Allah knows best. We can’t tell that. But like you said. I’ve never drank, I’ve never smoked. Yes, I eat outside sometimes. So things happen when they have to happen.
Ignored the pain
Deepika further told how her problems started and how she came to know about cancer. The actress said, ‘I was suffering from gall bladder pain. This pain was troubling me for a long time. I think when I conceived Ruhaan. What happens after that is that all your testing gets linked to pregnancy. Hey baby, is it okay or not, or if you are having an ultrasound then it is of the stomach and uterus only. Your blood tests etc. are being done, the reports are coming back normal. It would not even occur to you that something might be happening inside. This pain occurred, then after my delivery I got tested several times and the doctor said that it could be acidity. Took acidity medicine for 10 days, got cured and then forgot about it. Then the pain arose. So while doing this, a lot of pain had arisen and this time it was happening on both sides. I told Shoaib that I am in a lot of pain, let’s get a blood test done and see the doctor. He said ok.
