Every character of Ramanand Sagar’s epic ‘Ramayana’ had gained immense popularity. Every character including Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia, Sunil Lahiri had settled in the hearts of people. Actress Renu Dhariwal, who was seen in the role of a villain in Ramayana, also got tremendous recognition. She was seen in the important role of Surpanakha in Ramayam which led to the entire war. But the actress could not capitalize on her popularity and she moved away from the world of glamor and acting.

Actress Renu Dhariwal also became a household name by playing the role of villain Surpanakha in this, but she could not capitalize on this popularity in the industry and stayed away from the screen.
Renu Dhariwal had a desire to become an actress since childhood. She ran away from her home and came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming an actress. The actress decided to make her dreams come true by going against her father’s wishes and restrictions and reached Mumbai with lots of dreams in her eyes. She was born in a Punjabi family which had nothing to do with the world of glamor and acting, but the actress’s mother was Bengali and fond of theatre. It was with the help of her mother that Renu started her journey in the industry.

She came to Mumbai and took admission in acting class and coincidentally Govinda also studied in the same class as actress. During a play, the actress played the role of Govinda’s mother at the age of just 20-22, seeing which Ramanand Sagar became her fan. He was impressed by Renu’s acting and how at a young age she was playing such a mature and mature character. Ramanand Sagar cast him in Ramayana after seeing him in the play.
