Popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is now going to complete 18 years. This show has kept the audience captivated since 2008 and even today its popularity has not diminished. All the characters in the show have left their mark in the hearts of the fans. However, the character of Jethalal gives a different fun. Fans like his comic timing and expression very much. Meanwhile, actor Dilip Joshi, who played the role of Jethalal, talked openly about his character and told how he got this role.
Dilip had a choice
In a conversation with Mashable India, Dilip Joshi said, ‘I did not give any audition, but Asit Bhai gave me the choice to decide what you want to do? Champaklal or Jethalal? We have been reading the column on Taarak Mehta on which it is based since childhood, so I knew what it was. I will not look like Champaklal, I will not look like that. Jethalal also had a column in which he was a very thin man, had a Charlie mustache and I was a little Golu-Molu. But that too I said that I can try for Jethalal. Then he said okay, then I played the role of Jethalal.

Dilip’s career
Let us tell you that Dilip Joshi started his career with Gujarati theater at the age of 12. Even during his college days, he has received the Best Actor Award from ‘Indian National Theatre’ thrice. He worked at Prithvi Theater in Mumbai, where he got Rs 50 a day. After this he worked in films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!’, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘Khiladi 420’ and ‘One 2 Ka 4’. He has been seen in TV shows like ‘Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh’, ‘Kya Baat Hai’, ‘Hum Sab Ek Hain’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’.
