Actor-host Shekhar Suman became emotional in the latest episode of ‘Shekhar Tonight’. He talked about the incident of police lathi charge on students during ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in Delhi. Condemning this action, Shekhar said that those disturbing clips have shaken him to the core, due to which he has not been able to sleep for the last three days. He also admitted that he cried after seeing the visuals of the protest.
‘Haven’t slept for three days, just kept crying’
Let us tell you that in the recent episode of ‘Shekhar Tonight’, the actor-host talked about the police action against the protesters, including students, during the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20. Shekhar looked quite emotional in the beginning of the episode.
He said, “Before starting the show, I want to share something with all of you. What happened to those innocent, unarmed and helpless children at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on July 20 was heart-wrenching. The brutality, brutality and cruelty with which they were beaten with sticks and left bleeding, that scene was heart-wrenching. I have not been able to sleep for three days, I have just been crying.”
Questions raised on action taken against protesting students
After this, Share raised questions on the action taken against the protesting students and said, “What was the fault of those young and innocent children? Not only did they raise their voice against injustice and oppression? They raised their voice for their rights, their future and above all, the future of this country?
They raised their voice for a healthy education system and instead of listening to them, they were lathicharged, tear gas shells fired and beaten…The Mahabharata did not begin on the day the conch shells were blown in Kurukshetra but it began on the day Hastinapur stopped listening to its own youth. History takes a turn from there when the throne accepts that it no longer needs to listen to anyone.”
Shekhar Suman assured to support the students
Share further said, “In these difficult times, I stand with every fearless youth, every coordinator and every Indian whose heart beats for the dignity of this country and who has the courage to raise voice against injustice.”

‘The more you press, the stronger you will come back’
Shekhar also talked about the “young voices” who are being called “crooks, anti-nationals and incompetent”. He stressed that he believes, “The more you try to suppress them, the stronger they come back. The more you deny them, the farther they spread. They survive not by strength, but by determination.”
Shekhar further said that initially I was not sure whether this episode should be telecasted when there is turmoil in the country due to student protests. However, he said that he believed that he had a responsibility to continue the show despite the current climate of the country. He said that “the show must go on” and assured the students that he stood with them.
