Veteran actor of Bollywood and TV industry, Satish Shah may not be among us today, but he will always be alive in the hearts of fans through his brilliant acting. He left this world on 25 October 2025 at the age of 74. A day before Republic Day 2026, the Home Ministry had announced that late actor Satish Shah will be honored with the Padma Shri award posthumously. Actress Rupali Ganguly has now reacted to Satish Shah being honored after his death.

Rupali Ganguly reacted to the post of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
In fact, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) wrote on its X handle, ‘Satish Shah was one of India’s most respected and popular actors, who made his mark in theatre, television and cinema. He was especially known for his excellent comic timing and heart touching acting. After training at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he built an illustrious career spanning more than four decades, becoming a household name across generations and making significant contributions to popular culture and performing arts in India.’

The ministry further wrote, ‘Apart from acting, he has been a mentor to young artistes and has actively supported theater and creative arts in Mumbai. His entire work reflects his passion for storytelling, entertaining people and his dedication to his art. Reacting to this post of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Rupali Ganguly wrote, ‘I wish he could have taken this honor himself.’

Worked together in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’
Rupali Ganguly has worked with Satish Shah in the TV show ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’. In this show he was playing the role of daughter-in-law and father-in-law. There was a strong bond between Rupali and Satish Shah. Rupali considered the late actor as her mentor. The actress is devastated by Satish’s departure. She was seen crying bitterly at Satish’s funeral.

When will Satish Shah get this honour?
Let us tell you that in the second civil investiture event to be held on June 23 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Draupadi Murmu will present Padma Awards to a total of 65 personalities. Apart from Satish Shah, Malayalam cinema superstar Mammootty and actor R. Madhavan will also be honoured. Mammootty will be awarded Padma Bhushan and Madhavan will be awarded Padma Shri.
