If you like horror movies, then The Mummy is definitely a movie worth watching. The story of the film revolves around a girl who returns to her family after eight years, but the scary and unsettling events that begin with her return are what make the film special. The story may not seem entirely new, but the way director Lee Cronin has treated it takes it to a different level. His direction effectively balances psychological horror, suspense and emotional drama in the film. Laia Costa has given a brilliant performance in her character and her presence on screen makes the film more unsettling. Jack Reynor is also strong and leaves a lot of impact in emotional moments. The acting of both the actors further strengthens the fear and emotional depth of the film. The biggest plus of the film is its horror treatment. It doesn’t just rely on jump-scares, but shakes the audience to the core through psychological horror and disturbing visuals. Many scenes are so dangerous and disgusting that it may be difficult for the faint of heart. The background score, visual tone, and atmosphere of the film also keep the scares constant. Overall, The Mummy gives an intense horror experience, which is full of emotions along with fear. The film is 3.5 out of 5 stars and if you are fond of Hollywood and horror films, then this is a must watch.
