Famous playback singer of Indian cinema and Padma Bhushan awardee Suman Kalyanpur passed away at the age of 89. There was a wave of mourning in the music world due to his demise. His last rites were performed with full state honors in Mumbai. Who was Suman Kalyanpur?
Suman Kalyanpur was born on 28 January 1937 in Bhawanipur, India. He sang more than 800 songs in his career. Not only in Hindi, Suman recorded many songs in Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Bengali, Oriya and Punjabi languages. The singer has been honored with Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
