Bollywood actress and famous dancer Nora Fatehi reached the office of National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday. In the case of obscenity controversy related to the song ‘Sarke Chunar’, the Commission had issued summons to many big names associated with the film including Nora to appear personally. This controversy started in March 2026 when the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from Dhruv Sarja starrer film ‘KD: The Devil’ was released. The National Commission for Women, taking suo motu cognizance of media reports and complaints, deemed it “sexually provocative and objectionable”.
According to the Commission, the lyrics and visuals of the song prima facie appear to violate the provisions of the Indian Civil Code (BNS), IT Act and POCSO Act. Considering the seriousness of the matter, NCW has called Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Rakib Alam and director Kiran Kumar for accountability.
NCW said that it has taken the matter seriously following reports and complaints alleging obscenity and lewdness in the song. The Commission said that prima facie the material appears objectionable and requires a thorough investigation.

Earlier, Nora Fatehi, who was seen with Sanjay Dutt in ‘Sarke Chunar’, had reacted to this controversy through a video on Instagram. In this video he told that this song was actually shot three years ago. He claimed that the makers of the song themselves translated the Kannada lyrics into Hindi and used them without taking his consent. Nora said that she agreed to be a part of the project because the people involved were so nice, including Sanjay Dutt, whom she described as an “icon”.
He also alleged that a picture of him and Sanjay Dutt was created using AI, which he vehemently opposed. Speaking further on the matter, the ‘Dilbar Dilbar’ fame actress said that unlike star kids, independent artistes like her do not get any strong support in the industry and they often have to deal with such situations alone.

Nora told that after watching both the Kannada and Hindi versions of the song, she had warned the film’s director that people might get angry because of the Hindi lyrics. But, according to him, those concerns were ignored. He further said that this was the reason why he decided not to promote this song from the beginning.
After this, the actress thanked the audience for raising their voice against this song and said that it was due to people’s anger that the makers finally had to remove it from social media platforms. In the caption, she wrote, “I would absolutely not want anyone to think that I support this song… Thank you for your protest, because due to this pressure the makers have removed it. I would also request everyone to stop sharing this song, because by doing so you are giving it a platform unnecessarily.

One more thing, I see that some of you are trying to take advantage of this opportunity to point fingers at my character… It is very sad. Well, in such situations in future, I and my team will be more careful. But, I would like to reiterate that I had no idea about this Hindi song at all; I did not perform on it and no permission was taken to use this song with my photo.”
The song ‘Sarke Chunar’ was from Dhruv Sarja’s film ‘KD: The Devil’. This film is currently running in theatres.
