Rajinikanth narrated the story related to Bengaluru Ashram, which had shattered his ego of being a superstar.

Famous actor Rajinikanth recently shared an interesting anecdote from his old visit to the ‘Art of Living International Centre’ in Bengaluru. On the occasion of completion of 45 years of the Ashram and the 70th birthday of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, he reveals how a spiritual journey completely destroyed his ego of being a superstar. Rajinikanth said that after the Himalayas, this ashram has become his most favorite place.

Rajinikanth told that when he reached the ashram for the first time, he was mesmerized by the natural beauty, greenery and smiling people there. He had planned to stay only for two days, but the atmosphere there was such that he stayed there for 15 days. He also jokingly told that the name of a horse in the ashram was Rajni, hearing which everyone present there laughed.

 

The actor recounted an incident that showed him the truth of life. He told that once Sri Sri Ravi Shankar asked him to accompany him for darshan. Rajinikanth was afraid that being a big star, people would surround him and ask for autographs. There were hundreds of people there, including many from Tamil Nadu. But Rajinikanth was surprised to see that not a single person even looked back at him.

 

Rajinikanth said, ‘I was waving to people, but no one was looking at me. Everyone was engrossed in their devotion. This experience shattered my ego. He admitted from the stage that film stardom is temporary and ends after some time. He said that real and lasting stardom lies in ‘spirituality’, which continues to grow even after a person’s death. He expressed gratitude to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for this deep lesson, calling him Gurudev.
