Famous singer and musician Palash Muchhal is embroiled in a serious legal dispute. Vigyan Mane, who claims to be a close friend of Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, has filed an FIR against Palash in Sangli. In this complaint, serious allegations have been made against Palash of using caste based slurs and fraud worth lakhs of rupees under the Prevention of Atrocities Act (SC/ST Act).The complaint was filed months after Mandhana and Muchhal called off their wedding in December 2025. Police have registered a case against Muchhal based on the complaint, and investigation is underway.
India Today has learned that Mane, a 34-year-old resident of Sangli, who is active in social and political circles, has claimed that Muchhal had taken Rs 25 lakh from him as investment in a film titled ‘Nazariya’. According to the complaint, Muchhal had also offered Mane a role in the film, and it was agreed that the amount invested, along with profits, would be returned after the film’s release. However, Mane has alleged that the film was never made.
In the complaint, Mane said that he repeatedly asked for his money back, but Muchhal kept postponing the payment for days and months. He alleged that Muchhal later flatly denied this and said that he did not owe him anything. After several attempts to recover the money, Mane contacted Sangli police and lodged a complaint.

Mane further alleged that when he met Muchhal in person to ask for money, the singer abused him by using caste-related slurs and behaved in a derogatory manner, thereby insulting his caste identity. According to the complaint, the incident took place on November 22, 2025, at a farmhouse in Sangli. On the complaint of Vigyan Prakash Mane, 34, resident of Sangli, a case has been registered against Palash Rajkumar Muchhal, 30, resident of Lokhandwala, Andheri, Mumbai, on charges of caste-based abuse and use of obscene language, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandeep Bhagwat confirmed that the complaint has been officially registered and further investigation is underway. The case centers on Mane’s allegations that he made an investment of Rs 25 lakh in ‘Nazariya’ which was not repaid; Along with this, he has also claimed to have been subjected to caste-based abuse during a meeting held in Sangli.
