Actor Saif Ali Khan is in the headlines these days for his upcoming Netflix original film ‘Kartavya’. Fans are very excited about this film releasing on 14th May. Meanwhile, he has spoken openly about his character ‘Langra Tyagi’ in his old superhit film ‘Omkara’. Also shared your experiences.
Saif’s statement on his character
While talking to PTI, Saif said that ‘Everyone had doubts about this character, but Vishal was very supportive. He helped me in understanding the dialogues. I worked hard for this character. At that time I was vacationing in Maldives. People used to tell me that you should prepare in a village or small town environment, but I used to sit under an umbrella in Maldives, read the script and keep practicing continuously.
He further said that ‘Omkara’ completely changed my career. After this film, people realized that I can not only play stylish or modern characters but can also play desi and down to earth roles brilliantly. Filmmakers felt that if I could play a role like ‘Langra Tyagi’, then I could play even more different characters. I like to play characters which are completely different from my real personality. The real fun of acting is that you can transform yourself into different characters.

The film was released in 2006
Let us tell you that the film ‘Omkara’, released in the year 2006, is counted among the best films of Hindi cinema. This film was made by Vishal Bhardwaj, which was based on Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Othello’. In this, Ajay Devgan played the role of Omkara and Saif Ali Khan was seen in the role of ‘Langra Tyagi’. Apart from this, the film featured actors like Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Konkona Sen Sharma.
Saif’s upcoming film
Talking about work, his upcoming film ‘Kartavya’ is going to be streamed on Netflix from May 14. This film has been directed by Pulkit, who had earlier made films like ‘Bhakshak’. The film is being produced by Gauri Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment, in which actors like Sanjay Mishra, Rasika Duggal, Zakir Hussain and Manish Chaudhary will also be seen.
