The 28-year-old model, a former ‘Mrs Kerala’ beauty pageant contestant, has been arrested by customs officials at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport for allegedly smuggling hydroponic cannabis into India from Bangkok.
According to the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), the accused woman, identified as Harsha Sunny, had reached Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by Air India flight TG-351 from Bangkok on the night of June 10-11.Customs officials said that on suspicion he was stopped and searched closely. During the search, officials found 12 vacuum-sealed packets from his trolley bag.

On opening the packet, officers found a green colored substance. Initial testing using an NDPS field test kit revealed that the substance was cannabis in the form of dried flowers and fruit tops, commonly known as hydroponic weed.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is more than Rs 11.82 crore, officials said.
Following the recovery, customs officials arrested Harsha Sunny under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
After this, the accused woman was produced in the court, after which the Esplanade (Fort) Court sent her to judicial custody.
Harsha Sunny had previously participated in the ‘Mrs. Kerala’ beauty pageant in 2025. Further investigation into the alleged smuggling case is underway.

Recovery of drugs in Thane
In another development in Maharashtra, Thane City Crime Branch has busted an alleged drug smuggling network linked to Kashmir Valley. Police said on Wednesday that three people have been arrested in this case and narcotics worth more than Rs 3.03 crore have been seized.
Addressing the press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav said that the operation was conducted as part of the special anti-narcotics drive launched by the department.
Based on intelligence, the Crime Branch team on May 8 stopped the suspect named Firoz Abdul Khan (52), resident of Ankleshwar, Gujarat, while going towards Mumbra. During the operation, the police recovered 3.020 kg of hashish worth approximately Rs 3.02 crore and 12,984 capsules of ‘SPASMO-PROXYVON R-PLUS’, which contain the drug ‘Tramadol’. The price of these capsules was estimated to be around Rs 1.48 lakh.
