On Monday, during the Chalo Sansad march of the Cockroach Janata Party, Delhi Police lathi-charged the protesting students and fired tear gas shells. After this incident, now Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has come out openly in support of the students.
Diljit, who earlier distanced himself from this protest, has now expressed his anger on social media. He wrote on Instagram, “What happened today was very bad. Students should not have been treated like this. I request the authorities to listen to the demands of the students. The voice of the public is the voice of God.”

Remembered the era of farmers movement

Referring to the farmers’ movement in his post, Diljit wrote that he is aware that after this statement he will be targeted again. He wrote, “I have been tagged as being anti-national many times before. Even now I will be called a traitor. After the farmers’ movement, I had to face a lot of trolling and legal problems, which I cannot even describe… But God is watching everything, Baba will do good.”

Why did you maintain distance earlier?

Earlier in early July, during an Instagram live session, when a fan had asked Diljit about CJP joining this protest, he had distanced himself from it. Then he had said, “Keep me away from all this brother… I am an artist, not a leader. I don’t know what you think about me.” However, after the action against students on Monday, Diljeet could not stop himself and expressed his views openly.
