In the last part of her post, Devoleena made a very important appeal to the citizens of the country. Giving a message to the countrymen, she wrote, ‘I have always believed that one should dedicate oneself to the country, not to any individual. What is the whole matter?

The Ram temple offering scam started when Mahipal Singh, former accountant of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, complained about irregularities in the amount of offerings. It is alleged that the cash offered by devotees at the Ram temple was being siphoned off even before it was deposited in the official accounts. So far 8 people have been arrested in this case. The arrested accused include Ramashankar Yadav alias Tinnu (close associate of former trust official Champat Rai), Anukalp Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Manish Yadav, Lavkush Mishra, Ramashankar Mishra and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava. A court in Ayodhya has sent all of them to judicial custody for 14 days. The police have so far recovered an amount of approximately Rs 80 lakh.

The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate this matter. SIT investigation has found serious flaws in the offering management system. Ram Mandir Trust General Secretary Champat Rai has resigned on ‘moral grounds’ amid this controversy. There is a stir in political circles also in this matter. Congress has raised questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has targeted the government.
