This is not the first time that an FIR has been registered against Pranit More. Earlier, Maharashtra Cyber had also filed an FIR against the stand-up comedian related to the controversy. In the same case, FIR was also registered against Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar and others.
According to ANI report, an FIR has been registered against Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal and others at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under sections 75(1)(iv), 75(3), 294 and 353(2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), 2023 and section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000. He is accused of making objectionable, obscene and indecent comments about women, consent and dead persons.
The controversy started when viewer Himanshu Jangra was called for conversation during a live show of Praneet More. During the conversation, Jangra talked about taking a woman on a date and spending around Rs 370 on biryani. But the controversy escalated when Jangra hinted that she had paid the food bill, so she expected physical relations in return. When the clip later went viral, many viewers accused Jangra of making dating transactional and presenting a woman as just an object that can be ‘acquired’ in exchange for money spent on food. However, Praneet released the video and apologized.
