Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has once again made headlines on the international stage with her fashion choices. Urvashi made a spectacular comeback at the opening ceremony of the 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 12, putting an end to all the speculations that she would not attend this year.The actress arrived at the opening ceremony in a stunning, sheer silver gown and quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrities of the evening.
Speaking to the red carpet, Rautela expressed her feelings on representing India at this global event and said, “Whenever I represent my country, I am no longer Urvashi, I become India.” She further said that she felt proud to wear the Vietnamese designer label ‘JoliPoli Couture’ for the ceremony, and called it a privilege to represent the country at Cannes 2026.

For the opening ceremony, Rautela chose a stunning, custom-made ensemble from ‘Jolipoly Couture’. The outfit featured a body-hugging sheer design with lavender mesh detailing and intricate silver work on the bodice.

The gown was embellished with crystals, pearls and cut stones, giving it an armor-like effect under the flashlights on the red carpet. The flowing cape sleeves attached to the gown added even more elegance to the entire ensemble.She completed the look with a ‘maang tikka’ inspired headpiece that featured a bird design and glittering tassels; Along with this, she also wore big matching earrings.
Why is this Cannes appearance so special for Urvashi?
This year, this is Rautela’s fifth consecutive appearance since her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Speaking to ‘Brut’ during the event, the actress said that she feels “very proud” to represent India year after year.
